Random Thoughts…

People give Floyd Mayweather a hard time, but I have never seen the entire world of boxing unite against him like it is with his underwhelming choice of opponent in Andre Berto. For those of you who don’t follow boxing, picture hoping for a 1 on 1 game between LeBron and say, Paul George. Not the best versus the best, but a darned fun matchup. Only then, LeBron informs everybody that he’ll be playing against Carlos Boozer.

As I am sure many of you know, President Obama was in Kenya recently, something that got all the birthers going again. I can’t believe there are still birthers out there. I’ll tell you what, if Obama runs a sub-2:30:00 marathon barefoot, I’ll consider buying into the “Obama was really born in Kenya” line of thinking.

While people out there were hoping the Dodgers would land Price or Hamels, I’m actually quite happy that we nabbed Alex Wood without giving up all that much. Not to mention the boys in blue got a quality prospect in Peraza too.

I knew I was right for hahaing all these years instead of succumbing to the LOL bandwagon. Take that LOLers! Wait, what the crap is an emoji? I feel older than Paul Pierce here.

Remember when I gave the NFL a better way to determine whether a transgression has occurred and how to mete out punishment? Well, maybe the NFL should have taken me up on my idea. As bad as Tom Brady was looking last week, the NFL has now topped him in terms of PR blundering.

Not to toot my own horn, and not to jinx it because I own the stock, but how about that Under Armour stock since I brought up their having Steph Curry and Jordan Spieth locked up a while back? This is where my legal department reminds me to tell you that I am not giving you investment advice. Check with your own investment adviser before making any trading decisions.

I already miss Jon Stewart.

Good for Arian Foster. A lot of people are shamed for being atheists and that is wrong. Kudos to him for standing up for what he believes in, or for what he doesn’t believe in as the case may be.

Wait, speaking of gaffes involving the NFL . . . Seriously?

Some good news involving an athlete that will not get enough coverage: Ryan Broyles is living well within his means and setting an example that hopefully does not get ignored.

Good news for golf fans too! Rory McIlroy will be playing in the PGA Championship! Exclamation points are meant to convey excitement, so if you do not like golf, you shouldn’t have even read the previous sentence and therefore have no legitimate gripe. You non-golf fans also have no legitimate gripe for the run-on sentence you just read because, as aforementioned, you should have just skipped to the next paragraph anyway. Losers (insert Donald Trump voice).

Is there a reason so many white people can’t show empathy toward people of color who are victims of violence at the hands of the police? Dear fellow white people, it’s okay to acknowledge the problem of institutionalized racism while at the same time also recognizing that most police officers and firefighters are good people who do a dangerous job for pay that isn’t that great and keeps our society safe. I promise, those two sentiments are not mutually exclusive. Why can’t you allow the Black Lives Matter movement to gain steam when their goal is equality under the law? Of course all lives matter but it’s not white people being disproportionally imprisoned and gunned down under the color of the law. Are there bad apples within the movement? Of course, just like there are racist members of the police force. There is much that needs to be discussed on this topic but treating it like Deflategate and screaming about something without grasping the facts is not ok when lives are being ended and/or ruined.

North Korea sets clocks back 30 minutes creating its own time zone

And with that, I’ll leave you to it. I’m giving you fair warning that I am spending way too much time collecting data on a correlation between daily fantasy baseball salaries and the real teams’ success related thereto. Have a great week everybody.
