Transcript of ESPN’s Sit Down With Jemele Hill

Don’t ask how we did it, but we got the transcript from ESPN’s sit down with Jemele Hill following her tweet thread in which she called Donald Trump a white supremacist.

ESPN: Jemele, you know why we brought you in.

Silence in the room.

ESPN: You can’t call the President a white supremacist. We don’t want you to feel that you can’t express yourself. But you have to be subtle.

Secret transcriber’s inner monologue immediately jumped to Stringer Bell asking Shamrock if he knew what subtle meant.

ESPN: Asserting that the President of the United States is a bigot and a white supremacist without facts to back that up can’t be tolerated.

Jemele Hill:

ESPN: Unless you have indisputable evidence that the President is indeed a bigot or a white supremacist, you just can’t use those terms.

Jemele Hill: Indisputable evidence? The NFL may spend five years trying to define what is and what isn’t a catch, but anyone can connect the dots and see that Trump has put himself in lock step with white supremacists. Don’t believe me? Ask former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, David Duke.

ESPN: Jemele, you have to understand that a lot of our viewers are still angry about Hillary Clinton’s emails and Benghazi. It isn’t like Trump has done anything outwardly racist. It’s all circumstantial evidence.

Jemele Hill:

ESPN: Surely the settlement included an acknowledgement that liability was disputed. He hasn’t actually come out and aligned himself with any neo-Nazi groups.

Jemele Hill: There are many sides to that statement.

There was A LOT of emphasis on the words “many sides” when Ms. Hill said it.

ESPN: We don’t know what you’re referring to. You’re not going to get us to believe that Trump is a white supremacist or even a racist.

Jemele Hill:

ESPN: Jemele, you’re missing the . . .

Jemele Hill: Bannon.

ESPN: You’re missing the . . .

Jemele Hill: Gorka.

ESPN: Can you just . . .

Jemele Hill: Miller.

ESPN: Damn it, Jemele!

Jemele Hill: You’re right. I’m sorry *cough* Arpaio *cough* about that.

ESPN: Jemele, you have to understand. We like you. We think you and Michael do great work. And we hate doing this, but we are a corporate entity and we just can’t back you on this.

Jemele Hill: Got it. You do know it’s going to look bad that you’re publicly scolding me the same week that you hired Hank Williams Jr. back to do the Monday Night Football song, right?

ESPN brass looking at each other with blank stares.

Jemele Hill: He compared President Obama to Hitler. Adolf Hitler.

Secret transcriber would like to point out that Hank Williams Jr. also compared John Boehner to Benjamin Netanyahu, but that’s just because he’s a moron.

ESPN: That’s not fair.

Jemele Hill: Seriously. Hitler.

ESPN: Hank Williams Jr. is a complex individual. There’s more than one way to view what he says.

Jemele Hill:

ESPN: Anyhow, we’re going to need you to make a statement acknowledging that what you said about President Trump was not appropriate.

Jemele Hill: That’s not happening.

ESPN: Ok, well, we’re going to release a statement saying that you acknowledge that your actions were inappropriate.

More silence in the room.

ESPN: And we’re going to need you to stay off of social media for about a week or so. Roger Goodell has been helping us with off the network discipline the last few years. He thinks a week makes sense.

Jemele Hill: Can I go now?

Sorry, that’s all our secret transcriber could get before his legal pad was taken away.

  2. Hello all! Recently I have been dealing with a lot of hardships. Friends and doctors keep telling me I should consider taking medicine, so I may as well this and see how it goes. Problem is, I haven’t taken it for a while, and don’t wanna get back to it, we’ll see how it goes.

    • Good morning Bethany,

If you are having a problem, I highly recommend your seeking professional help. I am a big believer in mental healthcare. It is a good sign that you are willing to talk to your doctors and friends about your hardships. It shows that you are introspective and willing to do the hard work of healing yourself, but we all need help. If you have anything specific you wish to discuss or any questions, please email at [email protected]. Thank you and my thoughts and best wishes are with you.

      Best regards,
